PROFILE Hi, I'm Brixton! I was born in Canada, relocated to the Japanese countryside in 2016, and since 2021 have been living in Korea. I spend most of my free time learning languages, working out, building websites, reading, writing, and sketching. Welcome to my online zip folder.
SOCIALS I mostly lurk (but occasionally tweet) at @brixton on Twitter, I “post physique” at @ydalir on Insta, and I collect images, PDFs, and other digital bric-a-brac on Are.na. I am also ~sattex-ballet on Urbit.
LANGUAGE Language is something I've been interested in for as long as I can remember, and is probably something I will dedicate a major part of my leisure time to til the day I die. I'm interested in “language” as a broad topic, including but not limited to linguistics, philology, literature, and philosophy of language, but most people tend to ask me about foreign language learning. Having spent some time in Japan and Korea, my Japanese and Korean are easily my most proficient L2 languages, Norwegian and French both trail a bit further behind, and Mandarin Chinese is my latest serious endeavour as of January 2024. In the past, I've dabbled in Polish and Hungarian, and I see myself returning to them both in the foreseeable future. After those, who knows what's next!

- Latest emerging hobbies have been developing my personal knowledgement management (trying Obsidian again) and trying to get good at chess. As Seoul gets colder and its daylight hours shorter, I found my consistency at the gym was starting to suffer. Thankfully though, I found a good gym very close to me and since getting a membership there have been getting back into a rhythm. For the first time in a long time, language learning has sort of taken a back seat, but I think I am going to just continue with this break and will likely set some new goals after 2025 begins.
